Lesvos is not a main tourist destination; therefore there are only a few direct charter flights from some EU countries throughout the 6 summer months.

You can buy direct flights from your travel agent. Just tell them the destination airport is Mytilini or Mytilene (MJT) on Lesvos or Lesbos. If you wish to book or check flight possibilities on-line we suggest AirTickets.gr

Of course you can come any day you like via Athens or Thessalonica using the scheduled flights of Olympic and Aegean airways.

An alternative is to use the ferry! 		 
     

FROM UK to Mytilini (MJT):

There are direct charter flights to Lesvos from Gatwick and Manchester every Saturday. Try to book a charter flight with Flythomascook

EasyJet. This company runs daily scheduled flights from Gatwick and Luton Airports to Athens. It's worth checking out the less popular days, like Monday for some really cheap deals.

British Airways. You can often get some good deals to Athens. The Greek companies Olympic Airways or Aegean Airlines have the advantage that your baggage is checked through to Mytilini, your final destination.


From GERMANY to Mytilini (MJT):

You can fly from most German towns and Vienna via Munich or Düsseldorf every Wednesday with Air Berlin.

You can also travel via Athens or Thessalonica several companies: TUIfly, & Germanwings from Köln and from Stuttgart. Also EasyJet from Berlin

The Greek companies Olympic Airways or Aegean Airlines (from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, München) with the advantage that your baggage is checked through to Mytilini, your final destination.

From USA or CANADA: There are no direct flights from America to Lesvos - airport Mytilene (MJT). Travellers from North America might like to consider buying a cheap flight to Athens and then a scheduled flight or the ferry to Lesvos or a cheap flight to London Heathrow or Gatwick and then getting a direct charter flight from London Gatwick.

  
     

Coming via Athens or Thessalonica:
There are 3 companies: Olympic, Aegean and Athens Airways and they offer daily two or three flights each. It's worth checking with Olympic Airways or Aegean Airlines or Athens Airways particularly if it's not high season and provided you book well in advance.

The local one way flight costs about €90, but they often quote competitive prices right through to Mytilene, with the advantage that your baggage is checked through to your final destination.

Island hopping
By air: Direct flight from Crete to Lesvos every Friday & Sunday. More info you can find at Skyexpress.

Olympic Airways offers also flights from Lemnos, Chios, and Rodos. Twice per week there is also a ferry from/to these islands
 
     

Another idea is to use the ferry.

There are everyday two ferries from Athens/Piraeus and for this summer season ferry companies have promised to sort out schedules earlier than usual!

Looking at the following links, you can find out times and costs and you will realize that with two big ferries coming everyday to Lesvos ... it is not a problem to do it in the "Greek way" ... to book just one month (or maybe two for August) before your trip! Because the Ferry boat, for us Greeks, is similar to a bus or train in your countries.

Try these: Ferry boat “Nisos Chios” with Hellenic Seaways it needs 12 hours via Syros, Mykonos, Chios to come.

Useful details: If you arrive early in the day at Athens airport, you have plenty of time to catch the quick ferry and be with us the same night (about € 35 ) or you can go into the centre, visit the old and ancient town and catch at 18:00 or 19:00 the overnight ferry (this trip is more expensive (about €70) in a cabin but you don't pay a hotel for that night.

Bus (€ 3.20) or train (€ 7.00) or Taxi (€ 27.00) from Athens airport to the city or to the port (Piraeus). Strange but the train is not quicker! They all need one or one & half hours depending on the traffic.
