A small, family-run hotel by the sea. Enjoy homemade breakfasts with classical music by the water and quiet evenings on the sunbeds. Join our optional activities exploring history, nature, and Greek cuisine. Meet interesting people from all over the world. That’s Votsala, a place where solo travelers, couples, families, and small groups all enjoy it here.

we promise
no tv in the rooms

For a few days, forget the television and simply relax with a book, perhaps by one of the islands famous authors from our library. (oh yes we have good wifi)

no fake Greek nights

At Votsala we embrace authenticity. While we love living in Greece, it's not all about Syrtaki dancing. We enjoy the charm of our untouristy village, Thermi, where you can meet locals and experience true Greece. We love mornings with classical music, evenings with jazz, and of course, Greek music too when comes naturally.

No swimming pool

Nine acres of garden, filled with Mediterranean flowers and fruit trees, surround our hotel and lead directly to the sea, with no road in between. In front of our hotel, you’ll find an unspoiled, natural coastline with quiet beaches and safe waters for swimming.

Not an all inclusive hotel

We focus on supporting the local economy and connecting you with Lesvos culture. Enjoy our homemade breakfast by the sea, light lunches, and bi-weekly dinners at the hotel. Explore nearby tavernas just a 4-minute walk away or around the island, and join us for organized dinners in picturesque villages after our accompanied walks.

Eco friendly hotel

As a Green Key-certified hotel, we’ve relied on the natural sea breeze to cool our rooms

for over 30 years—no air conditioning needed. Insulated walls and fans help keep things comfortable.

Due to climate change, we’ve made a small adjustment:

air conditioning is available only on rare nights when temperatures exceed 26°C and there’s no cooling breeze.

To stay true to our eco-friendly values, the A/C is centrally controlled and activated only on “heat wave” nights.

Guests can choose whether to use it. This way, we remain sustainable while ensuring your comfort.

If you value the sea breeze and mindful A/C use, this is the place for you.

Iannis

I was 10 when my parents built the hotel! Drinking ouzo with guests and organizing walks is way more fun than dealing with Greek bureaucracy for construction permissions, which I had to handle as an architect 30 years ago!

greek cooking

I love to invite guests to join me in the kitchen. Besides welcoming guests, I have also welcomed refugees on the island of Lesvos. Together with some guests, we founded Odysseas to help refugees on the island and the mainland. Cooking up a storm and cooking up kindness—it's a perfect recipe!

Who we are
Yoga in the morning

I love waking up guests every morning with yoga by the sea—trust me, it's better than any alarm clock! On our trips, I love sharing the secret paths of Lesvos with guests. And the best part? We always end up in a cozy village, sharing a meal with the locals.

Lina
History

My father-in-law (Iannis) is a history lover and I’m a real historian! I fell in love with the island in 2022 and can’t stop exploring the rich history of Lesvos. Join me on our history walks—no history prerequisites and no exams at the end! Spoiler alert: The stories are way more fun than history class.

Christophe
hikes

They call me the Votsala mascot, although my name simply means "bread" in Turkish! Kids sometimes fight over who gets to lead me on walks (the truth is I already know the way), but my parents, Lina and Christophe, make sure everyone gets a turn. Who knew being a dog could be so educational?
